how to dye my hair from a naturally black color to light brown?

I’m 23 y/o and have never even attempted to dye my hair and i’m anxious. i dont know the first thing i should do… what to products to buy or how to go about doing it. I NEED HELP! (Please don’t tell me to go to a colorist. i have my reasons). Maybe you can direct me to a forum, video or even go step-by-step with me.

i wanted to go for a ginger color, but since this is my first time i figured i’d start with just a light/medium brown color. I wish i could post a picture of my self to further help you guys help me, but i’ll try to describe my hair and skin type as best as i can. I’m going for the new color that Alicia Keys has, but i’m slightly darker than her with a very slightly thicker grade of hair than her. I’ve been told I look ALOT like Aaliyah… I hope that helps. :/ Also, (if this matters) i’ve never used a perm or relaxer. THANKS!!!

i suggest you go to a hair salon,
it might be pricey but at least you won’t be risking dying it wrong, and considering you never dyed your hair before it would be the best option..
and as for how to do it,
gradually is the best option..
it will turn out better!
