install additional packages for ubuntu studio?
I pushed the wrong button when setting up Ubuntu Studio 10.04 LTS Lucid Lynx. I wanted to install the audio, graphics and video packages, but I accidentally didn’t. How can I do this without having to download each program and prerequisites individually?
Thanks Joe. That’s about the best I could come up with also. It’s not exactly what I wanted, but it is kind of doing it. Ubuntu Studio is an official Ubuntu distro for multimedia production. The installer is not as friendly, though. You should check it out.
I’m not familiar with “studio” – but, as a long-time Ubuntu user, I think you want the “restricted extras” package.
Open a terminal window (“Applications” | “Accessories” | “Terminal”), and type:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install ubuntu-restricted-extras
and enter your password when requested. If you’d rather work with the graphic interface, start Synaptic Package Manager (“System” | “Administration” | “Synaptic Package Manager”), and search for “ubuntu-restricted-extras”.
