Sony Vegas Movie Studio is popular. I've seen for $ 99 at Best Shop Buy down the street and $ 63.99 at Amazon. The guest reviews are mixed, some people give in the confusion, but others plod through learning curve and say it is a good program. You can do much more than the freebies.
Corel DVD Movie Maker 6 goes for about $ 48 on Amazon and Pinnacle Studio runs about $ 50. Nor is it as sophisticated as Sony Vegas, but as indicated by the price, you can do more with them than you can with the freebies.
Corel Paint Shop Pro for still images and Sony Vegas are combined into one and they call Corel visual creation of Sony. $ 110 at Amazon.
Video Editing Software has a learning curve, but in reality it is more difficult than with a word processing program.
