Does anyone know if the Kaezi photo studio is a good place to start?
I want to take photos of my son and my soon-to-be step daughter at home. I have a nice DSLR camera and I am looking for either a DIY home studio or a cheap professional studio lighting set up. I came across the Kaezi photography brand but I don’t know what to look for and if it’s a good deal. If not, can you please leave me links to where I could find good deals or give me a detailed description of what to buy (wattage, number of lights, backdrops, etc)

I purchased this same kit from Kaezi during Christmas to take family portraits. I’ve got to say the price was good and I haven’t had any problems with the equipment so far. I was able to take some good family shots and saved alot of money instead of going to sears to take the pictures for us and still not getting negatives.
If you are going to buy the kit and are concerned about not enough light, you could upgrade to 2 or 3 bulb holder and some extra light bulbs. I did that since I figured it’s always better to have more light than not enough. The bulb holders would replace the single bulb holder that comes standard in the kit. Single bulbs are about 300w each (85 watt CFL = 300 watt incandescent). With 3 bulbs on each lightstand you’ll have a total of 900-950 watts per stand at your disposal.
I also recommend doing some research and to understand how lighting works with a camera. Most importantly, you will need to figure out how ISO, shutter speed, and aperture work together to make up exposure. These three factors make up how you can take good pictures in any kind of light.
