What is a list of the basic equipment I would need to pursue a career in outdoor portrait photography?
I am interested in portrait photography (familes, children, babies, seniors, engagements and so on) but at this point in my life, I cannot have a studio so Im going to work on my outdoor photography. Could someone give me a list of the basic equipment I would need to do this. Also, I will not have an assistant at any time so I would need everything to be “owner operated” you know..something I could set up myself with no assistance from someone having to hold something for me to do the shoot. I already have a camera, tripod and a portrait lens. But im interested in lighting, etc.. Thanks in advance.!!
I’m assuming you already have the camera and lenses so I won’t go into that. But for lighting, since you won’t have an assistant to hold a reflector, a scrim, or a gobo, you would need a couple of lightstands, portable flash units, radio flash triggers and receivers like the PocketWizard (one transmitter for the camera, and one receiver for each flash unit), and a light meter that can trigger the flash triggers and get flash readings.
