Will using 2 editing programs diminish video quality?
I’m using Pinnacle Studio 12 to edit the majority of my video but there a couple effects in Windows Movie Maker that I would like to use that aren’t available in Studio. If I save a video in Studio, import it to Movie Maker and finish editing it there will the final version’s quality be lower than if I only used one program to edit?
I don’t use either software program, but the key would be whether or not you convert file types. If both use the same file type, and can read/edit the same files, then you’re okay. Its when one has to render or decode the file that you could see some quality loss (the amount of loss depends on the some of the tech specs of the file).
We do this all the time with other programs. Our compositor does work in After Effects and we edit it with Final Cut Pro. We don’t lose any quality from doing it because we have a workflow that keeps the codecs consistent for all applications.
