College laptop: should I go with Windows or Mac?
I’m going to college this fall and need a laptop. I’ve never had one before, but I’ve been using a DELL desktop running on Windows XP (or, obviously, a different Windows variant) since I was 8ish–so I’m a fairly experienced user of Windows, but I don’t think I’ll have much trouble figuring out how to use a Mac, as I’ve used my friends’ Macs before. I’ve looked at several guides online, like PC magazine’s Mac vs PC, but it talks about issues I’m unconcerned with, like how you can build your own desktop from scratch. I’m unconcerned with hardware, as long as it’s workable I’m good. I don’t want to modify the registry or whatever, I just want to be able to use it.
Here are some issues that are important to me for a laptop:
Light, even 5.5 is pushing it for me…I have little arms.
Battery, I’m planning on taking this to classes with me
Ability to video chat
Ease of use
Right now, if I’m going Windows I’ll do DELL, either Inspiron 15 or Studio 15, if Mac, the Macbook.
I believe you are referring to the laptop weight being under 5.5 lbs.
Need good battery life
Screen Size 15.4″ … now all this does not add up
